“Complexity Computer Modeling and Simulation Laboratory”

at the University of Camagüey for teaching and research in agent-based modeling.

 

Objective: To equip a “complexity simulation and modeling laboratory” at the University of Camagüey to support teaching and research of agent-based methodologies to understand and solve real world problems. (NB: this facility will also to be used in the Complexity Simulation and Modeling activities of the III Biennial International Trans-disciplinary Camagüey Seminar on Complexity. February 23-27, 2009.) Cost: $12,900.

After the visit of the U.S. team of scholars and conducting the workshops and pre-congress sessions in agent-based technology, it will be desirable to leave behind a learning environment conducive to implementing the lessons of applied complexity. Camagüey University, as the host institution of the Complexity Seminar, is engaged in applying complexity and cross-discipline approaches to solve real world problems such as the complex phenomena related to urban transportation, food production and distribution networks, educational systems, rural and urban economics, fundamentals of legal theory, normative knowledge production, consultancy to enterprises and research institutes, social development, community development, tourism, urban development and others.  These avenues of investigation require building the capacity to pursue research and teaching in agent-based modeling and simulation methods.
